Fishing Reports and news

Regular reports and news items on fly fishing in Devon will be published on the Colin Pape Fly Fishing website during the season.

Autumn/winter 2007/2008 casting clinics and Spey Casting Club

From 1 November 2007 to end of March I will be running single handed and double handed casting clinics at Kennick Reservoir. Sessions will be 2 hours duration only given the time of the year. See the Home page for further details.

By popular request I will also be running my Spey Casting Club for all novice and intermediate salmon anglers one Friday each month from November to March. See the Home page for further details.

30 November 2007

The Spey Casting Club at Kennick Reservoir (see Home page for setails) has got off to a good start with several spey casters turning up to practice and develop their single and double handed spey casting techniques. These are informal club type sessions with casters feeding off each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Needless to say there is some friendly rivalry and good natured banter at times - some at my expense!

The autumn/winter 2 hour casting sessions at Kennick Reservoir (see Home page for details) are also proving popular. These sessions are for anyone who wants to learn casting in the close season or for those who want to improve their skills before the new season opens in 2008.

Why not sign up to one of these sessions and improve your casting techniques without worrying about trying to catch a fish?

4 January 2008

The winter casting clinics and the Spey Casting Club have been quite popular during the pre-Christmas period and now that anglers are thinking about the season ahead I have seen a sudden surge in bookings since the new year. Some days have been cold and some windy, but this does not seem to have daunted the hardy types!

16 February 2008

My winter casting clinics and the Spey Casting Club have proved popular with my clients. We are now all looking forward to the new season. I have already had my first 2 clients out salmon fishing on the River Teign which as I write is in perfect condition. No salmon kelts have been seen but a number of sea trout kelts have been taken and returned on the Teign system.

If you are contemplating getting in touch with me to book your instruction or guiding this season I should add that bookings are coming in earlier this season for some reason and days are filling up fast already. Don't delay - get in touch now!

Come to Devon and experience the superb fishing we have to offer!
