Reports and NewsWell 2010 is now with us, Happy New Year to all my readers! Once the new year has begun I feel the new season is only a few weeks away. Some of you will have been grayling fishing, sadly the water was far too high during the very wet autumn of last year here in Devon when the local rivers were in flood for weeks on end and now it is so cold I can't be tempted out! Shame on me! We seem to be experiencing very wet autumns now and prolonged flooding, let's just trust the floods haven't washed out the redds too badly and ruined spawning. These days our countryside, river valleys, flood plains and moorlands lack the ability to soak up the rain like they used to many years ago - the price of progress! Last autumn I was busy with my 2 hour casting clinics. Quite a few anglers, and some new to fly fishing, have taken advantage of these casting clinics over the winter months which will set them up nicely for the start of the new season. If you just want to keep your hand in, prepare for the new season or learn to cast before the new season starts, get in touch and book a session or two. Many of you will be thinking about the new season ahead, planning your fishing, replenishing your stocks of flies and consumables and thinking about fishing new areas and different species. If you want to sample the lovely fishing available in Devon do get in touch and discuss with me what you might like to achieve. Meanwhile I strongly recommend you visit the new river web cams set up on all the important rivers in the County to assist anglers to plan their visits to these rivers. All these river webcams can be viewed via the Upper Teign River Webcam - see Links page. I look forward to hearing from you soon and get planning now!
Come to Devon and experience the superb fishing we have to offer!
